Edgerton Center

Build and test projects, learn new skills, explore madcap ideas, and get advice and encouragement—the Edgerton Center is the place where mind and hand come together.

Established in 1992, the MIT Edgerton Center continues the hands-on legacy of “Doc” Edgerton by providing students with the opportunity to learn by doing. We educate MIT students through student-led clubs and teams, courses in engineering and high-speed photography, and a set of machine shops and a maker space where students design, fabricate, and test their out-of-the-classroom projects. The center also offers a K-12 science and engineering program of daily visits, weekly programs, and intensive summer camps.
